One word substitution में शब्दों का एक समूह (अनेक शब्दो  का समूह )होता है। इस समूह को मात्र एक ही शब्द से change कर उत्तर प्राप्त या परिभाषित कर सकते है। अर्थात जो  एक वाक्य के स्थान पर प्रयुक्त कर उसके सम्पूर्ण अर्थ को बताए, वही शब्द one word substitution/अनेक शब्दों का एक शब्द या एक अर्थ  कहलाता है।
